Thanks to Robert (for all things Snow White check out his fantastic blog Filmic Light: A Snow White Sanctum) for sending me the pic of the Poster for the Little Mermaid ride.

And after a little looking... A video of the ride!!

So what do you all think!? Is it as fantastic as you thought it would be?

Ariel's Undersea Adventure

When Disney opens The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure in June, guests will be treated to lifelike animated figures of popular characters and today Disney has shown off the capabilities of one of the Audio-Animatronics that will be featured in the ride.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Imagineers are seen programming and installing the large new Ursula animatronic figure, showing off her range of motion and other capabilities:

Ursula is just one of many advanced animatronic figures that will be seen in the new dark ride based on the film The Little Mermaid. Ariel, the Little Mermaid herself, will feature highly-articulated facial expressions and plenty of other creatures will dance and sing as guests travel “under the sea.”
The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure will open at Disney California Adventure on June 3, 2011, followed by an opening at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida some time in 2012 as part of the New Fantasyland expansion.

The ride has certainly come along way from sketches!!!  I'm really looking forward to this ride. Unfortunately I won't be seeing it till it hits WDW in 2012!

Disney is, of course, already releasing commemorative collectibles for the big day! A couple of Vinylmations have been released as well as a pin!

While they've been working on the ride there have large walls keeping people from seeing what all was going on.  On flickr there are some great pics (by Loren Javier) of what it looks like now plus several from before the walls came down. Check them out here The walls have come down around Ariel's Undersea Adventure!

There are also more pictures of the updates here.

The Little Mermaid meets Osama Bin Laden below the waves

We caught SNL last night and I was overjoyed to see Tina Fey as Ariel (despite the obvious baby bump!) The Conspiracy theorist Manta Ray was pretty funny, mainly because I have a friend just like that. There were some funny moments and some giggles, but I think it could have been better.
Just after was the Lonely Island with Micheal Bolton in a fantastic digital short called ... well if I tell you what it's called it'll spoil it. I will say that Michael Bolton is a major cinefile.

3 Out of 3 Celebrities Agree: Little Mermaid Hair Is ‘In’

 Little Mermaid Hair Is ‘In’

I, for one, am not a fan. Red hair is great, but of the three it only looks good on Blake Lively IMO. I know Rihanna has been "rocking" this look since she posed for the April issue of Vogue, but it's too red for reallife. I just keep thinking of clowns.

As for the koolaid idea it works to an extent, but you're gonna end up with lousy two toned pink hair, just like I had all through 10th and 11th grade. If you want to do a few strands of red with the koolaid method, I reccomend making a paste and leaving it on for at least 8 hours. Plus you'll want your hair to be red or blonde already.

***Sorry I'm still mostly AWOL.  I will  be posting more regularly soon.
